Learning through Beats, Rhymes & Movement: Workshops for Grades K-5 and Teachers
Bring an arts workshop with Alphabet Rockers to your school for students or for professional development.
Students explore the foundations of hip hop music, dance, theater, beatboxing and songwriting in grade level arts workshops customized to address a curricular topic in the classroom. Alphabet Rockers workshops feature original award-winning hip hop/pop music, beatboxing, fun and easy to learn dance moves, and interactive theatrical programming aligned to Common Core Standards. The programming integrates into diverse school learning environments and can be customized to match the language and terminology of individual school values. Your students will be changed by this incredible arts program that weaves collaboration, creative thinking and art making into your curricular goals.
WORKSHOPS
K-2: Hip Hop Workshop: Song and Dance. [Sight Words or Shapes] Singing, learning, and performing dances from Alphabet Rockers songs. Total physical response learning and rhyming; integrates with Common Core goals. Video sample
K-2: Hip Hop Nutrition Workshop [Patterns, Nutrition, Plants] Singing learning and performing dances related to nutrition themes. Hip hop dancing, mathematical sorting, and rhyming.
3-5: Nutrition Beatmaking Workshop [Patterns, Nutrition, Science] Explore beatboxing and the sounds food can make to build a song out of the beats of the food. Includes $30 materials fee.
3-5: Songwriting Workshop [Literacy, patterns, collaboration] The class will write a song together in this workshop, learning the structure of songs, beatboxing, collaboration, and expression.
3-5: Beatboxing Workshop [patterns, collaboration] Beatboxing (vocal percussion) – students will learn how fundamentals, and will explore different patterns and rhythms to make their own beats. Video sample
3-5: Hop Theater Workshop [Curricular focus of your choice, bilingual Spanish avail] Through theater games and beatboxing, the students will explore a curricular topic through the art form and demonstrate their understanding of the topic.
Workshops are 50 minutes and can serve up to two combined classes. Packages are available for schools to add on to assemblies or to serve all grades.
