Since recording our first album back in 2007, we have dreamed of having a huge family event that celebrated the elements of hip hop. There were so many reasons why this was a vision for us, but one is really rooted in education itself. The art and community around hip hop parallel how we all learn through different modalities. Some people learn through reading and writing, others learn from dance and physical movement, others learn through artistic and visual images, and still others learn from sounds and song. It’s parallel to emcee, b-boy, graffiti, DJ, beatboxing…. And we add COMMUNITY to that list. In addition to this parallel to education, celebrating the expression in this art form is an element of our work that we honor and respect. We look forward to seeing you all there!
